Business SMS Text via UCaaS Now Includes MMS

Most people don’t realize how many communications they miss because clients, prospects and vendors text their work numbers, commonly referred to as Direct Inward Dial numbers (DIDs). As the saying goes, “you don’t know what you don’t know.” In fact, the person sending the text isn’t notified that you didn’t receive the text, and you, of course, never know that the text was sent.

Texting has become an efficient, effective and sometimes preferred means of communicating. Many UCaaS providers now offer texting capabilities built into their voice communications platform. Basically, this means you can use one number for business calling and texting right off your desktop, laptop or device of choice. No more flip flopping between your business number and cell phone to text.

Texting (short message service or SMS), however, is different than multi-media messaging (MMS). ATC provider, RingCentral, was the industry’s first business phone system to offer integrated texting capability. Most of the leading UCaaS players offer SMS now as well. This fun “SMS for Business” video below from RingCentral covers this.

Keep in mind that RingCentral now offers MMS as well. Again, an industry first, but others will soon follow. MMS capabilities can be handy if you have agents out in the field sending back multi-media for documentation.
